ROSS SCHOOL NATIVE AMERICAN FLUTE WORKSHOP NOV 2008

After the introduction we did an activity which required the students to explore how different pieces of bamboo can make sounds using breath. Here is one student contemplating her choice. The boys concentrate and focus on decorating their flutes with beads. I'm recording a song on her flute that she can listen to and be inspired to make up her own songs. The class demostrated their skills in playing at the assembly - they imitated a variety of animal sounds: crickets, a wolf, a chipmunk, and a variety of birds, including the morning dove. The flutes.
